Stray Pups Youth Theatre

Stray Pups Youth Theatre

2018 PRODUCTION: SEUSSICAL JR.

Stray Pups Youth Theatre is a musical theatre intensive summer program. This six-week program, running from May 29 to July 7, will encapsulate the entire production process for students. We will audition, rehearse, produce, and perform Seussical Jr. with full technical elements, including lighting, sound, and costumes.

Pups fulfills SDT’s mission by creating a community of confident, engaged, and enthusiastic students. The project will allow these students to channel their creativity into rewarding performances that build skills students will draw upon for life, in new ways and opportunities not usually given to them. The program combines SDT’s two main focuses: artistic expression and outreach.

We will enroll 20 students, aged 14-18, who are entering their freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior years of high school. Four teaching artists will serve dual roles as both the creative team for the production as well as the educational staff of the program.

The program will run daily for four hours each afternoon for six weeks, encapsulating the entire production process from auditions to performance. The program will take place at Tower Grove Abbey, home to SDT, on its mainstage, and in its adjacent rehearsal spaces.

Program fees are $150; scholarship is available. Scholarship application must be submitted with the enrollment application to be considered.
